ArchivalResource

Oaths and bonds, 1805-1973.

Record group RG 83-51 consists of oaths and bonds of officials at all levels, filed with the Michigan Secretary of State for the years 1805-1973. The oaths are declarations by individuals to conduct themselves honorably while serving in a certain capacity, usually as a public servant. After 1959, the oaths are for legislators only. In early years, some oaths and performance bonds can be found on the same sheet. Most bonds, however, appear as singles, and there are none present after 1900. Includes index dating 1835-1849.
